July 1st 2026, Canada Day plein air watercolour painting (30"x22") at Madrona Point in Nanoose. This is called "RESILIENCE". I'm often stuck by this particular small outcrop that signifies so much to me. I've painted this area previously and still get a feeling of emotional amazement. These trees struggle against the rocks, the heat, cold and rain yet continue to live. I see the limbs uplifted to the sky in appreciation of life. It is a metaphor for humans struggling in all forms. I'm not a 'religious' person, but this painting series has a spiritual quality that comes from within my heart. Gnarled thin trunks bending this way with a crown of beauty above, while golden patches of light cascade over the top of the hard rock surface.
